The Friends of the Hershey Public Library was founded in 1963 by a small group of dedicated supporters of the Library. Since then Friends has grown to a vital and active organization of over 1000 members and provides support and funding for many Library programs and activities.
The purpose of the Friends of the Hershey Public Library, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, is to promote understanding of the library, its resources, and its needs. Friends sponsors and stimulates volunteer services, cultural and related programs, and fosters a favorable climate for support of the library, its services, its physical facilities, and its resources towards the end that it may serve adequately the needs of the community.
Friends raises funds primarily through Membership and the annual Book Sale. These funds are used to support the following programs and activities at the Library:
Adult Reading Groups
Distinguished Author Visit
Children’s Reading Groups
Teen Reading Groups
Special Library Collections
